Well - at this point I'm taking things day by day. I've given up entirely on racing or really any productive early-season training. Hopefully this means that I'll be SUPER ready to go by September and October. Part of me is really sad. I miss the sport, I miss being active, I miss feeling like me.
And, I had a 2008-broken-back-flashback when today, I walked for an hour. Its been a while since I considered a walk of any sort a form of exercise...but when you're recovering from pneumonia - well, all bets are off.
On the plus side - I get to spend more time with Nathaniel (yea!) and his parents who are in town.
Just before this photo was taken, Nathaniel popped the hood on the helicopter and gave us a quick explanation.
I was floored.
Wearing the uniform and listening to him talk about mechanical and aviation-type things - well, suffice to say, the guy was hot.
But enough of that. I'm going to stop before I make my in-laws ill. Or my parents. Ew.
So on that note - I'm just trucking along. Counting walking as a working out and waiting breathlessly for the days when I can swim-bike-run sans pneumonia. And that my friends - will be great.

Ah yes, perhaps we should start a "Walking is (Sometimes) Exercise" club - the WISE club. Doubt we'd get many full-time sign ups though, perhaps "temporary membership is mandatory" would be our one rule....glad you get to spend more time with your hot man in uniform though!
I never thought of a helicopter as having a hood. I learned something new today. Enjoy your time with Nate and his family. I hope you are finding beautiful scenery along your walking way.
It's all relative a walk with pneumonia is a lot. Glad to hear you are enjoying your time with Nathaniel and his parents. The pic of you two is super cute. Triathlon isn't going anywhere and when you get back you will kill it.
I really hope you get better soon. Walking is better than nothing, but don't overdo it. Yes, I overdid walking once after surgery.
Men in uniforma, ahhhh ;)))
Your title mad em think of the film "Meet the Parents". Hope you are feeling better. Let me know when you are free to chat and I will call you :)
Ah, I like Cherellis idea of the WISE-club. I'm in.
Glad you make the best of your downtime. Every good emotion brings you a step forward to health.
I have but one word for you Marit - SEPTEMBER!!!!!!!!! :)
What a cute picture of you two! Good to hear you think your man is hot!!
I hope recovery continues to go well, even if its moving slow, I know you'll get through it with flying colors!
hang in there! we will still have a BLAST at Vineman!!!!! you and nathaniel are too friggin cute.
Pneumonia just sucks! I really hope you feel better soon! Keep taking it easy, and before you know it, you'll be swimming, biking, and running again!
Hang in there - glad you get to spend time with nathaniel!
I think I will join the WISE club too! The way things have been going for me I could become the club president. Set-backs totally suck and I know what you mean when you said that you just don't feel like your self.
walking is HARD!!! OMG i get tired after about 20 minutes. Seriously.
HAWT! YES indeed.
Sending love and hugs from Tucson via Lemmon and MSP.
BTW, Andrew laughed at me when I told him that helicopters have hoods. He said they go by the more "official" term of: engine cover. I'm sticking with hood!
LOL... yes, a man in uniform = way hot! I get to experience that first hand as well. :o)
Walking... gotta agree with GoBigGreen... hard! Last December I went on an 11 mile walk with my superstar power walking friend and ended up hurting my ankle and my ITB. At the time I just couldn't understand how I could do runs longer than that, but an 11 mile walk nearly put me out of commission! Too funny! Take good care of yourself. Time will fly and you will be back in the game at no time.
I totally suck. I just had to go back about 4 post to find out you had pneumonia!!!! I knew I was becoming a crappy blogger, but not a crappy blog friend! I can't let that happen! I hope you feel better soon...and yes, the races will be waiting for us in the fall. maybe I can come out to Cali one of these days and do one with you. Recover soon- thinking of you. xxxxoooooo
So cool what you said about your hubby. I think you guys are both hot, and I know this down time is only going to make you that much stronger later on!
So sorry girl! :( At least you are getting some quality time in....make it count!!! You will spring back :)
I know you're so frustrated--no way around that and it's totally unfair--but you are doing what you can to get healthy and spending time with Nate which is awesome!!!
Thinking of you and I know time feels like it's moving so slowly--but maybe think of it as--each day you DON'T train, it's actually making you heal FASTER!? =0....
Love you!!
awww sorry to hear about your pneumonia :( that sux! but at least nathaniel is home....hope your lungs heal fast girl!
you'll get better! i did!! remember what crappy shape my lungs were in when we were in cda....and since i was being foolish then, i had another round in august(and that is when they called it "walking pneumonia" vs. the non-walking kind, lol...whatever that is). so keep playing it smart and let your lungs heal or they will be super ready to pick anything up the rest of the race season. also, find yourself some good amino acids to help heal up your lungs. google it....you should be able to find lots of info about how/why that helps.
sending lots of healthy vibes your way!!
Hi Marit from Lorrie and I. Hope you are getting better. Sounds like you are getting there. We have been walking Greta 4 miles or so a day and we have been running even easier.
Hello to Nate and you.
Lorrie, Greta and Bob
Hi Marit - I hope you feel better quickly, it sounds like you are being smart in terms of taking it easy, even though it is extremely frustrating. I've enjoyed reading your blog for awhile now (it's also how I heard about JH who is now my coach as well!). Speedy recovery!
